Two works with unrequited or impossible love as motifs open this concert; Jean Sibelius' music for Maurice Maeterlinck's play Pelléas et Mélisande and Kaija Saariaho's Cinq reflets de l'amour de loin with soloists Johanna Wallroth and Karl-Magnus Fredriksson. Finally, conductor Dalia Stasevska leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Sibelius's dramatically introspective second symphony.
