Treat yourself to a fabulous and intimate baroque performance by Le Consort, the Paris-based preeminent ensemble. Le Consort is co-directed by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte who is recognized globally as one of the foremost baroque violinists, the virtuosic harpsichordist Justin Taylor, and Baroque violinist Sophie de Bardonnèche; and joined by cellist Hanna Salzenstein. Founded in 2017, the ensemble quickly gained acclaim by winning both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Loire Valley International Early Music Competition. Their mission is to explore the rich dialogues and contrasts of chamber music from the Baroque era, focusing on the interplay between two violins and the basso continuo. Le Consort interprets this repertoire with a vibrant, personal, and dynamic approach, bringing the quintessence of Baroque music to life.

Formed in Paris in 2015, Le Consort is dedicated to Baroque music and the genre of the trio sonata. The ensemble focuses on interpreting music with enthusiasm, sincerity, and modernity. You will also hear two magnificent settings of “Follia” — the era’s most recognizable melody, and one which still resonates today.

Made up of two violins, a cello and a harpsichord, the ensemble’s diverse repertoire includes trio sonatas from Italy, France, Germany and England, which represent the essence of Baroque chamber music., Le Consort’s Music in the Park Series program highlights the works of well-known composers who helped define the genre, such as J.S Bach, Georg Phillipe Telemann and Francesco Geminiani, as well as those whose works remain unknown and often unpublished, such as Giorgio Gentili, Nicola Porpora, and Michel-Pignolet de Montéclair.
