Exploring previously unpublished works by composers such as Giulio Ruvo, Giorgio Antoniotto, and Vivaldi, this concert tells the fascinating story of the instrument and its popular origins, sometimes meditative, sometimes exuberant. With his concerti grossi and sonatas, he not only elevated the art of the violin but also paved the way for a whole generation of composers. For the Consort, revisiting Corelli means delving into the heart of the trio sonatas, those demanding pieces where polyphony flourishes between two melodic lines carried by the violins and a basso continuo that is both rigorous and free. Partners since their training years at the Paris Conservatoire, the musicians of the Consort infuse these works with youthful energy, remarkable fluidity, and a keen sense of dialogue. Following the success of their Corelli #1 program last season, they return to deepen this exploration, driven by their unique musical identity: a sound that is both elegant and bold, a playing where the past resonates intensely in the present.
