Previous engagements include recitals at Westminster Abbey UK; Methuen Memorial Music Hall, MA; St John the Divine, NYC, the Spreckels Organ Pavilion; and recitals for many AGO chapters around the country. Upcoming engagements include two recitals in Hawaii, a recital at Butler Hall at The University of Dubuque, a solo organ recital at the 2024 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists in San Francisco, and many other prominent venues across the U.S.A.

The theme is "Bach to School" and will feature faculty from state universities and colleges, Nevada School of the Arts, collegiate chapter members, students, and association teachers. Our joint recital will present beautiful music spanning from the baroque to the modern era. The first half of the recital will feature Anaeli Gutierrez on flute, accompanied in two pieces by Lauren Hsu on piano, and Enmanuel Rodriguez on guitar. Listeners will hear contrasts between lively and technical passages such as in Piazolla's Histoire du Tango - Bordel 1900 and Kuhlau’s Variations on The Last Rose of Summer, as well as elegant lyrical passages found in Telemann’s Fantasie No. 5 and Suite en Duo by Jean Cras. Our second half of the recital will bring pieces from the renowned composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Esteban Salas Villela will perform Bach's Cello Suite Number 1, arranged for the classical guitar. These pieces allude to dances from the baroque era that still resonate through time.

The Jupiter String Quartet is a particularly intimate group, comprising violinists Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (Meg’s older sister), and cellist Daniel McDonough (Meg’s husband, Liz’s brother-in-law). Now enjoying their 21st year together, this tight-knit ensemble is firmly established as an important voice in the world of chamber music. The New Yorker claims, “The Jupiter String Quartet, an ensemble of eloquent intensity, has matured into one of the mainstays of the American chamber-music scene.”

Frank Lehman is an Associate Professor of Music at Tufts University, and holds degrees from Brown University and Harvard University. His research has explored a range of styles and repertoires, from Schubert to ambient music, with a special emphasis on music and the moving image. Lehman's work has been featured in a number of media outlets, including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, NPR, and too many podcasts to count. His books include Hollywood Harmony: Musical Wonder and the Sound of Cinema (Oxford University Press, 2018) and (as editor) Studying the Score: Music Analysis and Film (Routledge, 2024).

Pauline Tamale's Doctor of Musical Arts recital comprises three main selections from Giovanni Pergolesi, Giacomo Puccini, and Jake Heggie, featuring soprano Courtney Schwalbe; mezzo-soprano Pauline Tamale; Barbara Buer on pipe organ; and Katie Leung on piano. All three selections cover a moment of suffering in a woman's life that often leads to a form of redemption. The composer Giovanni Pergolesi meditates on the suffering of Mary, Jesus Christ's mother, during the crucifixion. This work features two voices (soprano and mezzo-soprano) and the organ to reflect the distinctive style of the 18th century and Neapolitanism. Puccini was known for his soaring vocal melodies and will feature in both arias and duets from Suor Angelica between Angelica and La Zia Principessa of the suffering one has encountered and separation from their loved one due to their pasts. Lastly, Jake Heggie's intertwined melodies between a mother and a daughter's relationship during and after one has passed on and the impact that remains.

Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “…an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape” and “powerfully adept… with a combination of brilliance and subtlety,” the Telegraph Quartet is a previous recipient of the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Grand Prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.
