Summer vacation is just around the corner, and before the orchestra packs its suitcase and settles into a hammock, we're setting off on a real musical journey. At the concert, Margrethe Vestager shares her experiences, reflections and stories from a life in politics, while the Odense Symphony Orchestra performs music selected by her. The concert runs approximately 2 hours, including intermission.

Gabriel Fauré's beloved Requiem, known for its calm and peaceful character unlike other requiems, performed by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir under the direction of Fredrik Burstedt. The concert begins with a performance of Austrian Olga Neuwirth's Tombeau II Hommage a Pierre Boulez, followed by the Swedish turn-of-the-century composer Helena Munktell's Suite for Large Orchestra 'Suite Symphonique' in four movements.

The second concert in the Composer Festival dedicated to Klas Torstensson features two works from the trilogy A Cycle of the North, which consists of the orchestral pieces The Mainland, The Polar Sea, and The Heaven. “A child’s feet on a sun-warmed path; a solitary man (perhaps the polar explorer, engineer Andrée from my opera The Expedition?) on an endless frozen sea; a steep road upward – perhaps to the sky.”

4,000 kids can't be wrong. The excitement would never end when the orchestra and actor Jens Andersen introduced a lot of North Jutland schoolchildren to the life and music of the Danish composer Carl Nielsen in the autumn with whimsical stories and beautiful tones. Now everyone else also gets the opportunity when we invite young and old to join the orchestra and tour guide Jens Andersen into Carl Nielsen's wonderful world in this child-friendly storytelling concert.

Serge Rachmaninoff was strengthened by the success of Piano Concerto No. 2, which led him to attempt the symphonic form yet again – thank goodness. The brilliant Symphony No. 2 is deeply emotional, with a warm, overflowing flood of melodies.
