A long time ago there lived an emperor in China who found the nightingale's song so beautiful that he never wanted to release it again - until he was given a nightingale automaton. Whether it could sing as beautifully as the real one can be seen at the 2nd children's concert, where Andersen's fairy tale can be heard in a musical setting by Meinrad Schmitt.
