Launched in 2017, the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition for the cello is now in its third edition. For its gala concert tour, two of the top three winners will perform major concert works from the repertoire, accompanied by musicians from the OPRL. This is an exceptional opportunity to discover the young talents of tomorrow.

This concert pays tribute to clarinettist Martine Leblanc and trombonist Alain Pire, two pillars of the OPRL, born in 1960 (the same year the Orchestra was founded), who will be retiring during the 25-26 season. These two musicians will be joined by a pianist, a string quartet, and the entire trombone and tuba section, in an extremely varied program of works (including tangos) by Dutch, German, Belgian, Argentinian, French, Spanish, and Italian composers. The concert will be presented by Hans Reul, a musicologist, former journalist (BRF), and trombonist himself.
