In "Origin," Saša Stanišić embarks on a quest to trace his roots: born in 1978 in the small town of Višegrad in the former Yugoslavia, he fled the Bosnian War with his parents at the age of 14, ending up in Heidelberg in the 1990s. Poetically, with powerful language and subtle humor, Stanišić recounts the adventures of his childhood in a soon-to-disappear country, his growing up as a teenager in Germany, his search for identity, and a motley crew of ancestors: his great-aunt Zagorka, who set off at 15 to become a cosmonaut; his great-grandfather, a raftsman who couldn't swim; and above all, his grandmother Kristina, who is increasingly losing her memories of the past. A warmhearted and whimsical kaleidoscope full of quirky stories and profound truths.

Human or monster? In Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, the young scientist Victor Frankenstein pursues an ambitious goal: he assembles a human being from various body parts and attempts to bring it to life. The result of his experiment, however, is decidedly ambivalent. When he finally comes face to face with his "creation," he is overcome with horror and flees from his own creation. Is it a demonic monster, born of hubris and obsessive scientific curiosity? Or is this being, brought into the world without its own intervention, also a vulnerable creature, yearning for love, affection, and friendship?

A family of field mice lives in an old stone wall in the middle of a beautiful meadow. With winter approaching, the little mice are busily gathering various delicacies for their pantry. They work day and night – all of them except Frederick. Instead of scampering nimbly from one nut to the next like the others, he seems to just sit around. Frederick collects astonishing things, things that at first glance can't fill hungry mouse stomachs, but are nevertheless vital for survival.

Friends Bérenger and Jean are chatting on a café terrace one Sunday afternoon when suddenly a rhinoceros charges across the square. While everyone present discusses the incident in astonishment and horror, only Bérenger remains unmoved. The next day at the office, the event is hotly debated – until Madame Boeuf bursts in, delivers her husband's sick note, and breathlessly reports that a rhinoceros followed her. Soon after, it rushes up the stairs and is identified by Madame Boeuf as her husband. Gradually, more and more inhabitants of the provincial town transform into angry pachyderms. And suddenly, they are in the majority. Anyone who wants to belong also transforms – "one has to move with the times, after all."

Jennifer is home alone. Her mother suddenly has to work a night shift at the hospital, and her father no longer lives with them. Jennifer is actually a little afraid of being alone, but it's also a great opportunity to do all the things Mom usually forbids: lying on the sofa with her shoes on, ordering pizza without permission, and watching TV until she drops. But even that gets boring eventually, and Jennifer becomes increasingly anxious. The best thing to do is hide in the closet. But what's this? Someone's already in there: Fearman, a terrified superhero from a distant galaxy. He's on the run from the nasty Rabbleman, who, of course, happens to ring the doorbell at this very moment. Chaos ensues.

Alceste has lost his heart to the young Célimène. She reciprocates his feelings, but she also enjoys socializing, has many admirers, and loves to flirt—especially on her television show, "Célimène Uncensored," where she invites local high society to share the latest gossip in front of an audience. Ekat Cordes' production places the story in the garish, plastic world of television, where not all that glitters is gold, and shows that while the world may have changed since Molière's time, people have remained the same.

Pettersson and Findus, the quirky protagonists of the famous Swedish children's book series, are inseparable and lead a peaceful life on their farm. That is, until Caruso, the vain rooster from the neighboring farm, disturbs their blissful solitude while fleeing the soup pot. Caruso crows incessantly, playing tunes and shamelessly turning the heads of the farm's hens. Everyone loves Caruso. Everyone except Findus. The tame cat's spirit is shaken. Findus fears for his position as Pettersson's favorite, and when he's had enough, he hatches a cunning plan.
