Acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens, Georgia, but left town after a year and a half. Raised in 12 different states, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child, flirting with both violin and trombone, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. Kottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies.

Trenton Klaz and Luigi Arredondo

Trenton Klaz is a pianist, composer and bandleader based in Miami, Florida. Trenton holds a Bachelors of Music from the University of Florida and a Masters of Music at the Frost School of Music at University of Miami. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in music performance at the University of Miami. Trenton Klaz has been a featured jazz soloist for the Hippodrome Jazz Series, The Keys Grill and Piano Bar Jazz Series and for the University of Florida Jazz Band.  He is the winner of the Jim Theriac Outstanding Jazz Minor Award in the UF Jazz Studies program. His influences range from Chick Corea and Michel Camilo to Monty Alexander and Bill Evans. Trenton has performed with many reputable artists including Wycliffe Gordon, Bobby Shew, Maria Schneider, Troy Roberts, Dafnis Prieto, Brian Lynch, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Carlos Vizoso is currently an adjunct instructor in jazz studies at the University of Florida and has taught Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Fundamentals 1, Jazz Fundamentals 2, Jazz Chamber Music and Jazz History. At the University of Florida, he received the Jim Theriac Jazz Scholarship, has headlined the Hippodrome Jazz Series, performed with Grammy Artist Jose Valentino, percussionist Clyde Connor, and Director of Jazz Studies, Scott Wilson. He currently performs in the Central Florida area with several Billboard topping acts such as Adam Hawley, Four80East, Brian Simpson and others including George Porter Jr. and Moon Taxi. At the University of South Alabama where he received his Bachelor’s in Music Education, he was awarded the prestigious John W. Laidlaw scholarship, was lead alto in the Jazz Ensemble 1, co-principal alto saxophonist in the Wind Ensemble, and taught private lessons for students in the surrounding area. Carlos Vizoso’s influences include David Sanborn, Paquito D’Rivera, Cannonball Adderly, Eric Marienthal, and Gerald Albright.

Scott Wilson is the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Florida and has served as Musical Director for Universal Studios Japan, principal staff composer for Grand Link World in Qingdao, China, consultant for Walt Disney’s “Magic Music Days” jazz workshops, and has been a featured trumpet soloist for Tokyo Disney Sea, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Universal Studios Japan. Wilson’s jazz textbooks, the Ultimate Jazz Tool Kit and Ultimate Music Workbook, are available through Kendall Hunt Publishing and accompanied by 35 jazz instructional videos that cover topics ranging from jazz theory to song writing.  His nationally available published online jazz education platforms include Jazz Fundamentals 1, Jazz Fundamentals 2, Jazz Aural Skills and Jazz History, and in 2012 Scott Wilson received the Technology Innovator Award from the University of Florida for his advancements in online delivery platforms.  As a producer, Wilson has composed and helped design dozens of international performance shows for Universal Studios Japan and he co-produced the “Earth Wind and Fire Tribute” album for the Sheldon Reynolds Project in Los Angeles.

Rick Germanson & Joe Breidenstine has been a highly in-demand pianist on the New York City Jazz scene for well over a decade. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rick relocated to New York City in 1998. Rick won the GRAND PRIZE at The American Pianists’ Association Jazz Piano Competition in 1996. He was awarded “Best of New Talent” in 2004 by All About Jazz NYC. Rick has four recordings out as a leader: The first two are on Fresh Sound New Talent: “HEIGHTS” and “YOU TELL ME”.

Scotty Barnhart is an acclaimed jazz trumpeter, leader, composer, arranger, educator, author and now in his twentieth year with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra has been appointed as their new Director. A Two-time Grammy Award winner with the Basie Orchestra, three critically acclaimed recordings by pianist Marcus Roberts and over ten recordings with the likes of Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Ray Charles, and Tito Puente, Scotty released his debut solo CD ‘Say It Plain’ on the Unity Music label. Scotty invited Clark Terry, Ellis and Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Jamie Davis and Etienne Charles to share his compositions and love of standards on Con Alma, Giant Steps and Barnhart’s own, Dedicated To You. Say It Plain achieved No. 3 in the Jazz Charts and has received celebrated reviews. Acknowledged as one of the authorities on the history of jazz trumpet, he intently researched and wrote the ground breaking book The World of Jazz Trumpet – A Comprehensive History and Practical Philosophy. Published by Hal Leonard, it is a valuable source tool for jazz trumpeters, students and jazz fans with interviews from Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison to Chuck Mangione, technical tutorials, historical events and illustrated with unpublished photographs. Ryan completed his Masters degree in Jazz Performance at The New England Conservatory in Boston, MA under the instruction of saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi in 2023.

Ryan has been a member and featured soloist in ensembles such as The Florida All State Jazz band, The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, The Orlando Jazz Orchestra. Ryan has toured a majority of the United States playing at famous jazz clubs like Smalls in NYC, Chris’ Jazz Cafe in Philly, Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando FL and Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville. Ryan is also the 2017 winner of the Central Florida Jazz Society scholarship competition and was runner up in 2017 Bob Washington Jazz scholarship competition.

Daniel Jordan is a nationally recognized jazz musician and educator since 1976. Dan joined Maynard Ferguson’s band in 1982 and began touring and recording as the tenor soloist. He is the creator of a nationally distributed educational video, “Journey through Jazz”. Dan has taught at numerous schools including Rollins College and has performed with a multitude of renowned artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra Jr, Wayne Newton, Doc Severenson, Billy Eckstein, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, Woody Herman, Barry Manilow, The Four Tops, The Temptations and many more. He has performed on New York City Broadway, Late Night with David Letterman, and in countless other shows and productions. His television and recording experience include touring with Paul Anka, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and a tour with Natalie Cole on live television in Italy, Germany, Poland and France. Other recordings include “Live From Birdland” with Scott Whitfield, “Storm” and “Live at the Great American Music Hall” with Maynard Ferguson, plus with various artists, “Live From Pleasure Island.”
