**About the Artist:**  
The group is led by drumset artist and percussionist Craig Russo, who has a profound interest in Afro-Cuban music styles. Craig has extensively traveled to Cuba to study at the prestigious National School of Arts in Havana. He has toured Cuba with the all-star Midwest Cuban music group Charanga Tropical, the first American group invited to perform at Cuba's International Festival of Danzon. Additionally, Craig has performed with Grammy-winning Cuban salsa singer Mayito Rivera on his first US solo tour and recently played at the Levitt Amp Foundation and St. Louis Hispanic Festival Midwest shows with Tito Puente Jr.

**Musical Style:**  
The Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project plays a familiar jazz repertoire infused with Latin rhythms, making for a unique and engaging form of jazz. The Latin, tropical sound is especially well-suited for summer events, offering a multicultural and easily accessible musical experience for a wide audience.

Krannert Center Uncorked with the Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project

Based out of Williamsburg, Virginia, Hornsby first rose to national prominence with The Way It Is, his 1986 Grammy-winning debut album with The Range. The title track became the most-played song on American radio in 1987 while Tupac Shakur’s timeless song “Changes” builds on “The Way It Is” and set the stage for many subsequent versions of the track. In 1991 Hornsby collaborated with Bonnie Raitt, playing on her iconic hit “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Additionally, Hornsby was a part-time member of the Grateful Dead from September 1990 to March 1992, performing over 100 concerts in America and Europe. The 13-time Grammy nominee has also solidified his status as a highly sought-after collaborator. Hornsby’s own 23 albums have sold over 11 million copies worldwide, and he has appeared on over 100 records including releases with Bob Dylan, Don Henley, the Grateful Dead, Stevie Nicks, Ricky Skaggs, Bob Seger, Chaka Khan, Bon Iver, Brandon Flowers, Bonnie Raitt, Sting, Mavis Staples, Willie Nelson and more. His most recent studio album, ’Flicted, was released in May ’22.

Bruce Hornsby & Ymusic Present Brhym

Saxophonist Branford Marsalis is one of the most influential and revered figures in contemporary music. The NEA Jazz Master, Grammy Award winner, and Tony Award nominee is equally at home performing concertos with symphony orchestras and sitting in with members of the Grateful Dead, but the core of his musical universe remains the Branford Marsalis Quartet. After more than three decades of existence with minimal personnel changes, this celebrated ensemble is revered for its uncompromising interpretation of a kaleidoscopic range of both original compositions and jazz and popular classics. After the Grammy‐nominated Upward Spiral, on which guest vocalist Kurt Elling was seamlessly integrated into the group, the Quartet has followed up with the Grammy‐nominated The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul, its most emotionally wide‐ranging and melody-driven collection to date. John Zeugner captured the impact of the Quartet in live performance in a recent concert review, calling it “casually confident, professional, cerebral, and supercharged with energy. The Branford Marsalis Quartet . . . was all of those adjectives and more.”

The Jazz Band III performance will now take place in Room 25, Smith Memorial Hall, 805 S Mathews Ave, Urbana. Admission at Smith Memorial Hall is free. Tickets purchased in advance through Krannert Center for this performance will be refunded by the Ticket Office. Patrons do not need to return their tickets.

The Joel Spencer Combo will investigate jazz standards as well as original compositions. Each member of the ensemble will be featured as a soloist throughout the performance. Program repertoire will be announced during the performance.
