Hosted by the University of Illinois Bands, the SuperState Concert Band Festival celebrates the legacy and tradition of great music making by middle school/junior high and high school bands in the state of Illinois. Taking place in two rounds, the 50th annual event begins with recorded applications that are evaluated by panels of renowned conductor/educators. In 2023, approximately 80 ensembles submitted applications and 28 bands were invited to perform at SuperState in May.

Hindemith's brilliant Symphonic Metamorphosis is a tour de force for the symphony orchestra and will bring CUSO’s 64th season to a rousing conclusion!

The University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra (UISO) is the School of Music’s premier orchestra. The Symphony Orchestra performs major literature from the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Musicians in the orchestra consist of the finest students in the School of Music, as well as exceptionally talented non-majors from across the University of Illinois campus. This concert features music by Ethel Smyth, Benjamin Britten, Iman Habibi, Takashi Yoshiamatsu, and Claude Debussy.
