For its Eastertime concerts, the Bundesjugendorchester has long since gained its own audience, who are inspired year after year by the young musicians’ tremendous talent. At the 2026 Easter Festival, the Bundesjazzorchester will be joining them for the first time. The program details are still being fine-tuned, but we are already looking forward to this youthful meeting of classical and jazz.

In recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Singing Spartans present music reflecting on how the ideals of freedom and “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” resonate across identities and in today’s world. Mosaic offers a program for soprano and alto voices centered on Isabella Leonarda’s Domine, ad adjuvandum me festina—“Lord, make haste to help me”—and explores how composers across time have used music to express urgency, hope, and resilience. Students will enjoy favorite movements from Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite and the Sicilienne by Gabriel Fauré.

The 2026 CUSO Youth Concerts are produced in partnership with Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, with funding from the CUSO Youth Music Appreciation Endowment Fund, the Meredith Foundation, Guild of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, the Robeson Family Benefit Fund, and the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

The Ken Pullig Visiting Scholar Ensemble will perform the works of the visiting scholar as well as student composers.

Superstar pianist Lang Lang joins Andris Nelsons and the BSO for the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s perennially popular Piano Concerto, which combines Romantic-era passion with elements of Norwegian traditional music. Similarly inspired by folk music, Antonín Dvořák was living in the U.S. when he composed the New World Symphony, which bursts with sweeping melodies blending Bohemian soul with the spirit of America and incorporates the sounds and songs of both worlds into the iconic and oft-quoted work we know today.
