Following the success of his performance in 2023, Gil Shaham returns to perform a new violin concerto by Mason Bates, one of today’s leading American composers. Led by Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska making her SPAC debut, the evening closes with her fellow countryman Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5.

Dalia Stasevska lead the Orchestra in a sensational program of orchestral masterpieces. Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra has become a fixture of the repertoire and serves as a showcase for the Fabulous Philadelphians. The work has a local connection having been composed in 1943 in Saranac Lake, NY. The evening closes with Dvořák’s joyous and triumphant Symphony No. 8, which has not been performed at SPAC in over a decade.

The CSO’s emotional range emerges in Mahler’s First Symphony — a world-building Titan that rises from ethereal beginnings to tectonic eruptions of orchestral light. The finale is truly an enormous treat. Bruce Liu, First Prize Winner of the 18th Chopin International Piano Competition, makes his Music Hall debut with Prokofiev’s colorful and fantastically cinematic Third Piano Concerto.

Experience the sublime as Emanuel Ax takes the stage to perform Mozart with the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the baton of Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska. This much-anticipated event will unfold at the Verizon Hall, soon to be rededicated as Marian Anderson Hall, showcasing a repertoire that includes Ravel's "Pavane for a Dead Princess," Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17, Lutosławski's Symphony No. 4, and Ravel's "La Valse."
