Heavily influenced by French filmmaker Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film La Belle et la Bête, the design and stylistic elements reflect the magic and mystery of that ground-breaking movie. Striking sets and fantastical, Alexander McQueen-inspired costumes, both designed by Michael B. Raiford, create an other-worldly setting for this story that redefines true beauty and the search for love. Graham Reynolds’ filmic score blends classical instruments with industrial sounds to create a remarkable auditory setting that is achingly beautiful and hopelessly romantic.

Ecuadorian singer-songwriter Javier Jara teams up with the 18-piece, string orchestra Austin Unconducted to present an orchestral rendition of the Our Rhythms, Our Voices project. For the project, Javier Jara and his team interviewed Latin American immigrants in the United States from all walks of life and turned those interviews into songs using a rhythm from the person’s homeland. The concert and the project aim to celebrate Latin American immigrants in their diversity, cultural heritage and contributions to this country and beyond. He was a featured stand-up on HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” special and also wrote for the ABC show “Fresh Off the Boat.” Sheng resides in Los Angeles and in his time off, he enjoys exploring botanical gardens and discovering new ways to snack.
