Join us for a unique evening of live music and narrated stories of some of the most influential songwriters who lived in Laurel Canyon in the mid-60s and 70s. Similar to other legendary rock and roll neighborhoods of the same era like Haight Ashbury in San Fransisco or Greenwich Village in NYC, Laurel Canyon was a community of artists who would forge a new genre of music (Folk Rock) and forever change the look, sound and attitude of American pop music.

This septet delivers a high-energy mix of beloved rhythmic tunes and original compositions, all with fresh arrangements that keep the spirit of the genre alive and vibrant. The lineup draws from a rotating pool of top-tier artists, including trumpet legends Jeremy Pelt and Freddie Hendrix; tenor saxophonists Eric Alexander and Wayne Scoffery; guitar virtuoso Paul Bollenback; pianists David Kikoski and Mike LeDonne; bassists Essiet Essiet and Yasushi Nakamura; and drummers Lewis Nash and Jonathan Blake. ‍CJ Solar was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. He moved to Nashville, TN in 2010 to attend Belmont University and has been there ever since. As a songwriter, CJ has co-written two #1 hits - “Up Down” recorded by Morgan Wallen featuring Florida Georgia Line and “Some Girls” recorded by Jameson Rodgers. He received the NSAI Award in 2019 for “Top 10 Songs I Wish I’d Written” for “Up Down” and was nominated for Music Row’s Breakthrough Artist-Writer of the Year. His songs have, also, been recorded by Jason Aldean, Jerrod Niemann, Justin Moore, and others. His own single, “Airplane” was named by Rolling Stone Country as one of the “10 Best Country & Americana Songs of the Week” and in 2022, CJ was among 5 in Nashville nominated for AIMP (Association of Independent Music Publishers) Rising Artist-Writer of the Year. As an artist, CJ was named Music Row’s Independent Artist of the Year in 2019.  He has played the Grand Ole Opry twice and has opened for Gary Allan, Chris Janson, Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd and others on the road. He is consistently releasing new music and working on a new project for release in early 2026.

The LSU A Cappella Choir, Chorale, Gospel Choir, and Tiger Glee Club present the Festival of Choirs. In this concert, these ensembles join a consortium of over fifty choral ensembles from around the United States to perform the world premiere of contemporary Tim Takach’s We Are Phoenix.

Vibrant Voyages: A Concert in the Cosmos Exploring Land, Sea, and Space

To close out the year, this program is a showcase of the exceptional students of the School of Music. George Gershwin's wonderfully colorful inspired work, American in Paris, will kick things off. Winners of the Dean's Concerto Competition will solo with the orchestra-highlighting both graduate and undergraduate talent. The evening closes with an orchestral showpiece for every instrument, Ravel's Bolero.

Created by Carl Palmer and his management, the show will be presented with the full cooperation of the Estates of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. THIS IS NOT A TRIBUTE ACT - THIS IS THE REAL THING.  Through modern technology they will reunite the band: Carl with his two bandmates, playing together along with Keith Emerson & Greg Lake, who both passed away in 2016. The show combines video performance of  Emerson and Lake from a legendary sold out ROYAL ALBERT HALL ELP show from 1992 with live on  stage performances of Carl Palmer with his own ELP Legacy band (Paul Bielatowicz and Simon Fitzpatrick).

In their final concert of the semester, the LSU Wind Ensemble explores themes of fate and love with their concert titled “Woven Souls”. Joined by guest conductor Dr. Mallory Thompson, the ensemble will perform Peter Boyer’s Silver Fanfare and Henry Purcell’s timeless Funeral Music for Queen Mary. The concert will conclude with the consortium premiere of Paul Dooley’s Lovestruck.

Streisand Songbook - Platinum Award Winning singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway celebrates the music of one of America’s most powerful and enduring musical artists. Singing timeless classics from five decades of Barbra Streisand’s multi-faceted career, Callaway crafts a loving musical portrait of the icon who began as a role model for her and evolved as a mentor, recording Ann’s songs on six of her recent CD’s, including "I’ve Dreamed Of You", the song that Streisand sang on her wedding day. In a night of soaring songs and stories, Callaway promises us a performance that not only celebrates the extraordinary career of Barbra Streisand, but also reminds us of “the way we were.”

To close the Spring 2026 semester, the LSU Symphonic Winds will present a concert titled “A Strange Trip”. Opening with the pairing of Jennifer Jolley’s How to be a Deep Thinker in Los Angeles and Ivan Trevino’s Run to the Light, the concert will take the audience through an introspective musical journey. Graduate Conductor Carly McClendon joins the ensemble to lead Roy Magnuson’s In the room, great, and green. The concert then concludes with the consortium premiere of Katahj Copley’s Amerykhan Graffiti.

LSU Symphonic Winds Presents "A Strange Trip"

The LSU Symphonic Band examines the beauty of nature and the human experience with “Nurture/Nature”. Under the baton of Graduate Conductors Carly McClendon, Benjamin Adams, and Ryan McCue the Symphonic Band will perform the music of David Maslanka, R. Nathaniel Dett, Conni Ellison, and Morten Lauridsen. To close the spring 2026 semester, the ensemble will perform Viet Cuong’s Diamond Tide.

The Turner-Fischer Center for Opera presents the collegiate premiere of Before It All Goes Dark, a gripping new opera by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer. This new work follows Gerald “Mac” McDonald, a Vietnam veteran who discovers the hidden legacy his family left to him...a Jewish heritage and a priceless art collection that was taken from them by the Nazis. Together with a journalist, he travels to Eastern Europe to retrieve his artistic inheritance and an understanding of his cultural tradition.
