North Bedford and Milton Keynes Poetry Stanza is a monthly group that meets to discuss their poetry, to learn together, develop their skills and approaches. It’s open to all adults. It’s a workshop format with occasional guests to support a themed session and is linked to the Poetry Society.

Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5 would make it into many listeners’ top ten. It begins with a whisper from horns and timpani, which spreads through the woodwind section in a glorious evocation of sunrise. The second movement is a set of variations on a simple, wistful theme. Then comes the moment Sibelius fans have been waiting for – the magnificent ‘swan’ theme of the finale, with its jubilant horn chords and sweeping strings. Sibelius wrote it after witnessing the awe-inspiring sight of 16 swans in flight: “One of the great experiences of my life! God, how beautiful,” he wrote in his diary.

Join us at the Bedford Corn Exchange for a magical evening as the Philharmonia Orchestra presents "Philharmonia Brass at Christmas" on Tuesday, 10th December 2024, at 7:30 pm. This festive concert will feature the Philharmonia Brass Ensemble, showcasing a splendid array of seasonal music that perfectly complements the holiday spirit.

For the first time at the Bedford Corn Exchange, the Philharmonia’s brass players will be in the spotlight, performing a carefully curated programme that includes beloved carols, festive favourites, and more. It's an opportunity to experience the warmth and joy of Christmas music as performed by some of the most talented brass musicians in the world.

Ticket prices range from £15 to £40, with priority booking available for Friends of the Philharmonia. General booking opens at 10am on Tuesday, 23rd April. Take advantage of our multi-buy offer, and don't forget that discounts are available for under-18s, full-time students, and concessions.
