"Wildflowers" delves into the natural survival responses of fight, flight, freeze, and fawn, presenting a narrative that moves through the seasons. From dancing in lush fields in the summertime to navigating a landscape engulfed by wildfire in the fall, and wandering through fields of withering wildflowers in winter, the performance symbolizes our bodies' natural responses to communal trauma. It poses profound questions about the nature of our emotions, their role as guides, and the possibility of finding physical techniques to embrace and grow from these experiences.

Adding to the evening's allure, the event will feature a special prequel by Circus with Purpose and the renowned aerial theater pioneers, Paper Doll Militia. Their new work, "Homeostasis," is an aerial sculpture and performance piece that combines the visual design of Shibari with contemporary aerial arts. The piece visualizes the human nervous system through a large-scale rope sculpture, serving as an elaborate structure for an exploration of dysregulation and resilience on both personal and societal levels.

Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world’s most esteemed violinists, celebrated for her expressive depth and technical prowess. She has collaborated with today’s most important composers, conductors, and orchestras, creating a remarkable collection of new violin repertoire for future generations, including Arturo Márquez’s Fandango, a violin concerto written for her in 2021, which received a 2024 Grammy® Award nomination for her recording with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Ms. Meyers’ CAMA recital debut program will include a premiere of Philip Glass’s New Chaconne, as well as Márquez’s Danzón No.2 in a new arrangement by the composer. Anne Akiko Meyers will play the exquisite 1741 “ex-Vieuxtemps” Guarneri del Gesù, considered by many to be the finest sounding violin in existence for its powerfully luxuriant sound and mint state of preservation. Joining Anne Akiko Meyers is Italian pianist Fabio Bidini, a distinguished faculty member at the Colburn School in Los Angeles.

One of the most profound lessons ZZ Ward learned from growing up listening to the blues greats was to be authentic to your story. When the LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began to write new music, she found herself in the midst of one of the biggest life changes a person will ever experience: motherhood.

The resulting music is her truest and most blues-infused to date. Freed from the pop pressures of her previous major label, ZZ is able to fully embrace the blues, her most formative influence. Her single, “Mother,” out July 19, is a wailing Chicago blues-styled song. The Mother EP, out October 4, features a mix of ZZ’s favorite Sun Records songs, and muddied-up versions of her well-known tracks to commemorate her blues liberation. The single and the EP were produced by multi-platinum producer Ryan Spraker (Eli “Paperboy” Reed, Weezer, In This Moment).

Blind Pilot, which consists of Israel Nebeker, Ryan Dobrowski, Kati Claborn, Dave Jorgensen, Ian Krist and Luke Ydstie, was formed in Portland, Oregon in 2007. The band has released three studio albums, 3 Rounds And A Sound (2008), We Are The Tide (2011) and And Then Like Lions (2016), and has sold out concerts throughout the U.S., Europe and the UK since its inception. They have performed on Ellen and The Late Show With David Letterman as well as at Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza among others.

In 13 Tongues, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre brings the sights and sounds of Taiwan’s legendary night markets to life in all their human and spiritual dimensions. Mixing traditional storytelling with futuristic imagery and shifting between folk, classical and electronic music sources, 13 Tongues delivers an unforgettable experience of contemporary dance at its most innovative and spectacular. The Doublewide Kings and The Santa Barbara Symphony are back for another unforgettable performance! This time around the Doublewide Kings hope to up the musical mojo by grooving just a little harder and digging a little deeper as they rag, roll, and ramble through the phenomenal song catalog of The Band for a special tribute to their iconic farewell concert, The Last Waltz.

The Band’s guitarist and primary songwriter, Robbie Robertson, masterfully combined rootsy sounds and poetic storytelling to create a new and unique approach to American music, showcased in such great Band songs as The Weight, Up On Cripple Creek, and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. These and many more were part of The Last Waltz concert at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom in 1976, and they’ll be celebrated and re-energized by the Kings and the Symphony on the Granada stage!
