Pianist Gabriela Montero returns to Spivey Hall with Westward, a program featuring extraordinary immigrant composers and anchored by her improvised accompaniment to Charlie Chaplin’s 1917 film, The Immigrant. Known as a master improviser, Montero’s visionary interpretations and unique compositions have received critical acclaim and brought her a devoted following. A multiple-Grammy® and International Beethoven Award winner, Montero has been recognized by Amnesty International and the Human Rights Foundation as a committed human rights advocate for her work in her native Venezuela.

Returning to Spivey Hall by popular demand after his astounding debut in 2024, Alexander Malofeev has created a brilliant program of musical geography for us, opening with three Nordic composers and concluding with four Russians. At just 24 years old, Malofeev displays mature interpretations and emotive depth far beyond his years. Known for his precise yet lyrical playing, he effortlessly blends technical mastery with a deep understanding of the emotional essence of the music he performs. Now established worldwide as one of the leading pianists of his generation and the most distinctive artists on the current music scene, Cho’s artistry resonates deeply with audiences, drawing them into an immersive experience that reflects both his virtuosity and his profound musical insight.

Returning to Spivey Hall after many years, Vincent Dubois is the titular organist at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, France, where he serves alongside Olivier Latry and Philippe Lefebvre.  He is also a professor of organ interpretation and improvisation at the Hochschule für Musik, Saarbrücken, Germany. Dubois’ interpretations of the French organ tradition, particularly the works of composers like Franck, Widor, and Vierne, are revered for their precision and emotional depth. His dynamic performances, often marked by intricate phrasing and rich tonal colors, have earned him international acclaim, making him one of the most prominent organists of his generation.
