Opera Sound Hunters is an educational game for children designed to help them get acquainted with the magical atmosphere of opera with the help of sounds produced by musical instruments and human voices. Playing children get to know that different musical instruments that make up a symphony orchestra and learn to distinguish between different human voices.

Music that can provide tranquility. It may sound contradictory, but that is precisely the goal of Casco Phil's INKEER concerts. Together with a professional meditation specialist, Casco Phil's string quartet offers a counterbalance to our hectic, digital, hyper-fast daily lives. The search for inner peace is timeless, and Casco Phil's string quartet combines music by Johann Sebastian Bach with other greats who get maximum expression from minimal means. In this way, Casco Phil draws a common thread through three centuries of musical tranquility. The crowning glory is the enchanting Spiegel im Spiegel; not only the most performed work by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, but also one of the top hits in the Klara Top 100 for years. Together with violinist Elise Bertrand, Casco Phil invites his audience on a meditative journey through history, in search of inner peace and beauty.

If you are then served music in combination with poetry, a nice hot cup of coffee and a pastry, your Sunday will not be ruined... Winter Morning Walks will take you for a walk on Sunday, December 8, at 8 a.m. in Mariekerke (near Bornem). . The Casco Phil string quartet put together a warm and soothing program to warm up your winter toes. The meditative Third String Quartet by minimalist Philip Glass is linked to several other masterpieces that achieve maximum expression with minimal means. For example, Japanese pianist Gen Tomuro pays tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto, the recently deceased Japanese 'king of minimalism'. Arvo Pärt's captivating Für Alina completes the search for beauty in simplicity.

Joyful Traditions: A Community Messiah Sing

Gather your friends and family and join us for our highly anticipated Choral Masterworks performance this fall at Santa Fe’s iconic Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Choral Director Carmen Flórez-Mansi leads the angelic voices of our Symphony Chorus for this uplifting program with featured soloists accompanied by Collaborative Pianist Paul Roth.

Assistant Professor of voice Teri Bickham D.M.A. ‘19 takes the stage to perform Augusta Read Thomas’ A Plea for Peace, a meditative work representing an impassioned cry for peace.

Igor Stravinsky’s Petrushka is a vibrant symphony in three movements based on a ballet that tells the captivating tale of a tragic yet endearing puppet. Brought to life by a magician, Petrushka is burdened by human emotions and falls in love with a beautiful ballerina doll. This love is not reciprocated, and Petrushka is confronted with jealousy and rage, ultimately leading to his demise. Laden with Russian folk tunes and bursting with charisma, the orchestration of Petrushka effortlessly captures the puppet’s folly and the carnival in which the story takes place.

‘On Los Angeles’ historic Olvera Street, merchants remember a little girl singing Spanish-language boleros for tourists who sometimes would drop spare change in a hat nearby.’ La Marisoul was born Eva Marisol Hernandez in DTLA (downtown LA), the diverse and vibrant heart of Los Angeles. Growing up part time in Mexico and the United States created the duality of American pop culture and the roots of traditional folkloric music, which helped shaped her musical sensibility. “That’s the root of what I sing—traditional boleros and rancheras I learned from the musicians that played at restaurants on Olvera Street. They taught me how to sing loud and pass the basket around.”
