An absolute highlight for Salzburg visitors and locals alike: On selected Tuesdays, the International Mozarteum Foundation invites you to a half-hour organ lunchtime concert in its Great Hall, which, with its exclusive ambience and excellent acoustics, is considered one of the most beautiful concert halls internationally. Since 2010, the magnificent hall has housed the magnificent Propter Homines organ, custom-built for it, which blends visually and acoustically with the surrounding space to create an artistic unity.

At the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert there was a lovely tradition of the stage being decorated with flowers from the Italian city of San Remo. It is even nicer that the CAMERATA now really makes flowers come to life at its New Year's concerts. Famous floral bouquets such as Mozart's Overture to the opera The Gardener for Love , Tchaikovsky's  Flower Waltz from the ballet The Nutcracker and Johann Strauss's Waltz Roses from the South as well as the Bouquet Quadrille are brought to bloom. The musical floral decoration also includes Lehár's magnificent waltz Wilde Rosen and the immortal melody of Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol from Zeller's operetta The Bird Seller in an instrumental version. The Japanese piano "rising star" Hayato Sumino will perform a movement from the piano concerto "Memo Flora" by his compatriot Takashi Yoshimatsu and, together with the Russian violinist and conductor Alexander Sitkovetsky and the CAMERATA musicians, will also allow the immortal melody of the Air Irlandois "The Golden Rose of Summer" to blossom in the setting by the German Romantic composer Ferdinand Ries.

This tour explores how the Mozart family lived in the luxurious apartment in the Tanzmeisterhaus. What games did they play? What animals did they keep as pets? And, most importantly, what music did they compose and play? On the tour, families will get to know Mozart's original concert grand piano and also see the Magic Flute Cottage, where, according to an anecdote, Mozart composed his most famous opera.

Ringing in the New Year with a concert has long been considered good form in Austria. Wolfgang Hentrich and the German String Philharmonic have already celebrated numerous successes on the Austrian concert stage and, together with the magnificent pianist Rafał Blechacz, invite you to a joint kick-off for 2026. The program is based on the motto "Con anima!" – when composers want to hear their works played this way, they desire a particularly emotional expression, a "soulful" way of making music. And this New Year's program is soulful through and through. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart returned to Salzburg from Italy with his father shortly before Christmas 1771, brimming with new ideas and impressions he had brought back from the south. He soon composed three divertimenti – pure light music – for his new employer in Salzburg, Prince-Archbishop Colloredo. The first Divertimento, K. 136, became particularly famous, opening cheerfully with an elegantly floating first movement. It is no surprise that the melody is one of the best known from Mozart's pen. After this introduction, we are on our way to Paris; the city on the Seine was also the destination of the 20-year-old Frédéric Chopin when he premiered his Piano Concerto in E minor in October 1830. The concert was a musical farewell to his Polish homeland, which the composer shares with the piano virtuoso Rafał Blechacz. For more than 20 years, the young pianist has been a fixture in the international concert scene, not only as a proven Chopin expert – these joint appearances with the German String Philharmonic are already their second collaboration. And finally, a New Year's Concert can also offer a colorful bouquet: in the second half of the program, Wolfgang Hentrich and the String Philharmonic dedicate themselves to a rich selection of the most popular orchestral pieces by Vivaldi, Smetana, Dvořák and the Strauss dynasty, which provide an atmospheric round-off to the start of the year. We are celebrating 50 years of the Salzburg Bach Society – with great musical expressiveness: war and battle, death, lovesickness, longing, pain, jest, and joy. Our anniversary program is dedicated to the powerful emotions of Baroque music. For Nikolaus Harnoncourt and our founder, Albert Hartinger, the rediscovery of tonal speech and emotions was a musical revolution. This expressive musical language reached an early peak with Monteverdi and his contemporaries – as our program impressively demonstrates. Participants include the diversely staffed Collegium Vocale Salzburg and the Salzburg Baroque Ensemble under the direction of renowned flautist and conductor Dorothee Oberlinger. Together, they will recount powerful emotions in a rich sonic diversity. The festive culmination will be a birthday celebration in the stylish ambience of the DomQuartier.
