Joe Pug is a singer-songwriter known for his lyrical acumen and plaintive harmonica style. Pug dropped out of college and moved to Chicago, working as a carpenter before he broke into the city’s music scene. Since 2008 he has released a string of critically acclaimed albums and toured heavily in the U.S. and abroad. Paste Magazine wrote of his music: “Unless your surname is Dylan, Waits, Ritter or Prine, you could face-palm yourself to death trying to pen songs half as inspired.”

Meshell now shares her resonant, ever-evolving exploration of American novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist James Baldwin. According to Ndegeocello, “Baldwin speaks about things that are very familiar within the human condition, and the most revolutionary music to me—the music that changed my life—is the songs about the inner struggle, the commonality of being human.” Moreover, a new recording of Ndegeocello’s Baldwin-inspired work is to be released for Baldwin’s Centenary on Blue Note Records on August 2nd, 2024.

“Merry Christmas from José James” raises the bar for the contemporary Christmas show. James combines the classic jazz-crooner elegance of Frank Sinatra and Nat “King” Cole with the earthy sophistication of soul legends Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. Further, James breathes new life into much-loved holiday classics such as “The Christmas Song”, “White Christmas” and “Let it Snow”. Moreover, the show will feature new compositions by James and his partner Talia Billig. In addition to showcasing his crooner chops, the 50 Shades Darker singer explores his jazz side. The show includes a joyful rendition of John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things.”

John Denver: A Rocky Mountain Holiday

When Luna and Jane run into each other at the supermarket on Thanksgiving Day, they discover they have much in common — they’re both new to America and spending the holiday alone while their medical-resident husbands work the night away. Longing for connection, the two homesick women return to Luna’s apartment for the evening. Over a bottle of wine (or two), they attempt to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal while sharing their stories and dreams. Set eight years after the Hart-Celler Act of 1965 overhauled the U.S. immigration system, this poignant comedy illuminates the Asian immigrant experience and asks, “Would you give up your heart to make a new home?”

Rachael & Vilray has been a musical act ever since Rachael saw me play. I performed a very short set of covers and said she wanted in. Her voice is singular, agile, beautiful, and is the most rewarding instrument to write for. I found this when we started performing original music together. In the years since we began, our configuration has ranged from an intimate duo to a nine-piece formation. No matter the set-up on stage, my friend Rachael and I sing right to each other, tell stories about how the songs came to be and relate them to the many old love songs we love to love.
