Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce a special FREE performance a on Sunday, July 13, featuring the first-ever collaboration between renowned artists Elio Villafranca and William Cepeda. This unique event will honor the musical legacy of Charles Neville, saxophonist and founding member of the Neville Brothers, and explore the deep cultural connections between Cuba, Puerto Rico, and New Orleans. The event will begin with an engaging one-hour community discussion, in which Villafranca and Cepeda will share stories, musical demonstrations, and reflections on the African roots of jazz, Latin, and New Orleans music. Following this, they will take the stage for a dynamic live performance, weaving together New Orleans jazz, funk, second-line rhythms, and Afro-Caribbean traditions, including songs tied to Neville’s enduring influence. This special event is presented in collaboration with FirstWorks in Providence, RI (July 11) and Blues to Green in Springfield, MA (July 12), with generous support from a Chamber Music America grant. The tour brings these powerful musical traditions to communities across New England, building cultural bridges and celebrating the shared heritage of the African diaspora.

Bridging the gulf between rock n’ roll and classical music, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra performs The Music of Queen at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 7:30 PM. Brent Havens takes the podium to present Windborne’s The Music of Queen, a program scored to extend the listening experience of Queen’s exceptional tunes. This enchanting event features the Kinetic Ukes Ensemble, under the skilled direction of Jim Lenn, bringing a fun and relaxing atmosphere to the stage with their timeless tunes. The ensemble, known for its joyful renditions across various genres, from classic ukulele songs to modern country, blues, and rock, promises to put a smile on the faces of both performers and audience members alike.

The concert will showcase popular tunes from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, along with true oldies from the 1920s and a sprinkle of more contemporary songs, adhering to Duke Ellington's wisdom that if it sounds good, it is good. This FREE summer concert series is an ideal outing for everyone. Guests are encouraged to bring their chairs and Sunday afternoon picnics, and feel free to sing along to the heartwarming performances.

Experience the heart and soul of Country music with symphonic arrangements of songs from legends like Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash, as well as today's stars including Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, The Chicks, and Kacey Musgraves. The evening will showcase the talents of Nashville’s bright young vocal stars Grace Leer and Rick Brantley, accompanied by four of Nashville’s top instrumentalists, all under the baton of Grammy-winner Jeff Tyzik.
