Experience the majestic fusion of organ and orchestra at the Winspear Centre with the highly anticipated "Organ & Orchestra" concert. Conducted by the talented Carolyn Kuan, this event promises an evening of unforgettable musical brilliance on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 7:30 PM.

The concert will showcase a selection of works that highlight the power and beauty of the organ in symphonic music. The program includes Mendelssohn's "Symphony No. 4 Italian," a piece described by the composer as the jolliest work he has ever done, inspired by his travels to Italy. Joseph Jongen's "Symphonie concertante for Organ" will also be featured, offering a magnificent showcase for the instrument across a wide range of moods. Additionally, the concert will present Allan Gilliland's "Shadows & Light," a commission from the ESO in 2000 that explores unique orchestral textures.

This concert is a part of the Friday Classics series and will include an intermission. Featured artists include Carolyn Kuan, making her ESO debut as conductor, and Paul Jacobs on the organ, promising a night of exceptional musical artistry.

Eric Jacobsen serves as the Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s twelfth Music Director, a position he’s held since 2021.
